Boyer Approved As New Middle School Principal

MAKING IT OFFICIAL – Matthew A. Boyer waved and smiled at, and thanked the Pottsgrove School District Board of School Directors on Tuesday (May 23, 2017) night, as its members approved his appointment as incoming principal at Pottsgrove Middle School for the 2017-2018 academic year. Boyer, currently 5th-6th grade principal in the Pottstown School District, was selected after two rounds of interviews and succeeds Dr. David Ramage. Ramage has been named as the Pottsgrove’s director of integration for learning and instruction. Board member Rick Rabinowitz praised the district administration’s handling of the hiring process, during which some or all board members met and participated in asking questions of every candidate. He described it as an “appreciated” change from earlier supervisory hiring practices. Superintendent Dr. William Shirk said Boyer is expected to visit the middle school before it closes for summer vacation, so he can meet and be met by students and faculty members. “We’ve already started the transition process, and (Boyer) will be able to hit the ground running” when the school re-opens in September, Shirk said.
