Borough’s Industrial Hwy. Trail Makes Progress

MAKING WAY FOR THE TRAIL – Workers (at top) have been busy in recent weeks installing components for a portion of the Schuylkill River Trail that will run along the south side of Industrial Highway through Pottstown, west from just beyond the Lower Pottsgrove township border. Trail users will be protected from the highway’s two-way traffic by a new guide rail (below), according to a notice posted Tuesday (June 20, 2017) on the borough’s Facebook page. It consists of special steel that will weather over the next few months, and oxidize to create a rich brown-colored protective coating. The maintenance-free guard rail was specially selected to create a “park-like” feel while visitors travel along the river front, it said.
