County Presenting Its Disaster Plan Update

HARLEYSVILLE PA – Who in, and how will, Montgomery County and its communities respond when faced with a variety of hazards caused by weather, geological events like earthquakes, or wildfires? The county’s got a plan for that, but its now five years old and ready to be updated.

County officials announced Monday they are preparing to revise its hazard mitigation plan, last created in 2012. Besides updating what’s locally available to respond in a disaster, and how those people and services will get to wherever needed, the plan also will meet state and federal public safety requirements.

They’d like comments on suggested proposals. Community leaders and members of the public can attend meetings this month in Harleysville or Upper Dublin to hear a presentation on the draft plan. The Harleysville meeting is scheduled for Nov. 28 from 7-9 p.m. at the Lower Salford Township Building, 379 Main St.
