Preliminary Hearing Set In Alleged Robbery

PRELIMINARY HEARING SCHEDULED – A Dec. 7 (2017; Thursday) preliminary hearing is scheduled for Damien Hayes, 30, of Pottstown (at top, from surveillance video), following his arrest by Pottstown Police Department officers. He is accused of an alleged armed robbery that occurred Nov. 18 at 2:10 p.m. in the America’s Best Value Inn, High and Manatawny streets. Only $50 was taken, police reported. Although they were unable to track Hayes with canines, police said images obtained from security footage only two days later helped identify him, and led to his arrest without incident. Hayes is charged with robbery, possession of a firearm prohibited, firearms not to be carried without a license, theft, and simple assault. He was arraigned and transported to the Montgomery County Correctional Facility in Eagleville PA after failing to post $100,000 cash bail.
