Pottstown Police Investigate Sunday Shooting

POTTSTOWN PA – The shooting death of a 23-year-old Pottstown woman, which occurred Easter Sunday (April 1, 2018) at around 2 a.m. in the 300 block of Johnson Street, is being investigated by borough police and the Montgomery County Detective Bureau, county District Attorney Kevin Steele said. Following an autopsy, the county Coroner’s Office has ruled her death a homicide, he added.

The victim, identified by Steele as Siani Overby, reportedly was shot multiple times and died on a portion of the Johnson Street sidewalk between Third and Fourth streets.

Detectives canvassed the neighborhood later Sunday, seeking out and speaking with those who identified themselves as witnesses, and others. They learned that as many as five gunshots had been heard, along with screaming and yelling. One reported a male was observed running from the scene north on Johnson.

The investigation is continuing. Anyone with information is asked to call Pottstown police at 610-970-6570 or the Montgomery County Detective Bureau at 610-278-3368.
