Update Offered On Sanatoga Rt. 422 West Ramp

THE NEW LOOK OF 422 AT SANATOGA – An updated design for an on-ramp (at top, outlined in yellow) at the U.S. Route 422 interchange in Sanatoga, which will be built to eliminate congestion on Evergreen Road, was reviewed Tuesday night (June 19, 2018) by the Limerick Township Board of Supervisors. The ramp is expected to allow traffic leaving the Philadelphia Premium Outlets on Evergreen to easily reach 422 West toward Pottstown, and has been under discussion since 2008, according to Joe Platt of Traffic Planning and Design Inc. in Lower Pottsgrove. Currently, traffic must turn left and cross Evergreen’s southbound lane to reach 422 West. The location has repeatedly been the scene of vehicular accidents. During his presentation to the board, Platt said less than an acre of land will be disturbed to create the ramp. Construction costs of about $1.8 million, he said, are being paid for in part by Limerick and Lower Pottsgrove townships. So far “the project is pretty much on budget,” Platt reported. Construction probably won’t begin until the first quarter of 2019, and may not be completed until that year’s end, supervisors learned.
