Eight Winners Drawn Saturday In Center Raffle

POTTSTOWN PA – There surely was a Smale smilin’ Saturday (Sept. 1, 2018).

A lucky ticket purchased by Terry Smale, whose address was unsurprisingly not supplied, was the winner drawn Saturday night of the first place $10,000 cash prize offered in the annual raffle conducted by the TriCounty Active Adult Center, 288 Moser Rd.

Seven other cash prizes also were presented for tickets held by:

  • Lillian Nace, $5,000;
  • Nora Reinhart, $250;
  • Jeanette Wert, $100;
  • Pete Schneider, $100;
  • Joe Ortelli, $100 (email prize);
  • Donna Swavely, $50; and
  • Lorraine Szabo, $50.

Their addresses were not provided either.

Proceeds of the raffle benefit the center, helps older the community’s older adults by providing age-appropriate programs, activities and services. Its 2,000 members can participate in more than 40 programs each week, and a support staff helps them locate benefits and services in the community. More than 150 seniors visit the center daily for a hot meal, activity and conversation.

The center thanked all participants; its top ticket seller, Nelson Swartley; and the Pottstown Classics Car Club for hosting its ticket sales during Nostalgia Nights events downtown, as well as the Boyertown Museum of Historic Vehicles’ for allowing ticket sales during Saturday’s Duryea Day event.
