New Hanover Backs Toepel In 147th District Win

Toepel wins, 15,794 (56.71%) over Camson, 12,052 (43.27%)

GILBERTSVILLE PA – Despite the threat of a so-called Democrat “blue wave” that was in evidence elsewhere, incumbent Republican Marcy Toepel won handily in Tuesday’s (Nov. 6, 2018) general election for a return to Pennsylvania’s 147th District House of Representatives’ seat. She defeated her Democrat challenger, Josh Camson, by a more than 13-percentage point margin.

Majorities of voters in both New Hanover and Douglass (Montgomery) townships supported her re-election.

The 147th District includes West and Upper Pottsgrove, Douglass (Montgomery), Lower and Upper Frederick, Lower and Upper Salford, Marlborough, New Hanover townships, and the boroughs of Green Lane and Schwenksville. Toepel received 15,794 votes overall; Camson, 12,052.

In unofficial results reported by the Montgomery County Voter Services Department, with 100 percent of votes counted, the municipal totals were:

• New Hanover – Toepel, 3,100 votes or 59.10 percent; Camson, 2,145 votes or 40.90 percent; 5,245 votes cast with no write-ins;
• Douglass – Toepel, 2,768 votes or 64.93 percent; Camson, 1,494 votes or 35.05 percent; 4,263 votes cast with one unspecified write-in;
• Upper Pottsgrove – Toepel, 1,146 votes or 52.40 percent; Camson, 1,041 votes or 47.60 percent; 2,187 votes cast with no write-ins;
• West Pottsgrove – Toepel, 567 votes or 50.0 percent; Camson, 567 votes or 50.0 percent; 1,134 votes cast with no write-ins;
• Green Lane – Toepel, 134 votes or 60.91 percent; Camson, 86 votes or 39.09 percent; 220 votes cast with no write-ins;
• Lower Frederick – Toepel, 1,158 votes or 52.64 percent; Camson, 1,041 votes or 47.32 percent; 2,200 votes cast with one unspecified write-in;
• Lower Salford – Toepel, 3,855 votes or 52.11 percent; Camson, 3,541 votes or 47.86 percent; 7,398 votes cast with two unspecified write-ins;
• Marlborough – Toepel, 985 votes or 61.22 percent; Camson, 623 votes or 38.72 percent; 1,609 votes cast with one unspecified write-in;
• Schwenksville – Toepel, 226 votes or 50.79 percent; Camson, 219 votes or 49.21 percent; 445 votes cast with no write-ins;
• Upper Frederick – Toepel, 892 votes or 57.66 percent; Camson, 655 votes or 42.34 percent; 1,547 votes cast with no write-ins; and
