Police, County Investigate Alleged Homicide

POTTSTOWN PA – A Pottstown woman died Sunday (Nov. 18, 2018) in her North Washington Street residence, the victim of an apparent gunshot wound in what borough police and Montgomery County detectives are investigating as an alleged homicide committed during a home invasion robbery, the county District Attorney said.

Sylvia Williams, 38, died sometime Sunday before 6:43 p.m. in her 351 N. Washington St. home, at which Pottstown Police Department officers had responded to a reported security alarm, DA Kevin Steele announced in a media release issued today (Monday, Nov. 19). Upon entering the home officers found a deceased female, later identified as Williams, in a second-floor bedroom.

Police Chief Michael J. Markovich said the department and county detectives are requesting public help in their joint investigation. Anyone with any information is asked to call Pottstown police at 610-970-6570, or county detectives at 610-278-3368.

An autopsy is expected to be performed later today at the county Coroner’s Office.
