Township Plans Its 11th Coventry Woods Festival

NORTH COVENTRY PA – Although it’s four months away, North Coventry Township is already at work planning for the 11th edition of its popular and heavily attended Coventry Woods Festival. The free event that recognizes and celebrates the township “as a health community with healthy lands” is scheduled for May 19 (2019; Sunday) from 1-5 p.m. at the Fernbrook access of Coventry Woods, 1954 St. Peters Rd.

As in years past, it includes food vendors, music, games, informational displays about community organizations and the assistance they offer, and the annual running of the Fernbrook Derby goat race (at top).

Coventry Woods “consists of 688 beautiful acres of mostly mature deciduous forest,” and is located in the rural western portion of the township, its website notes. It provides five different trails with picnic pavilions, and open shelters, wilderness hiking through forested areas, and quality wildlife watching. Parking space is plentiful. Camping and open fires are not allowed except by special permit.

Vendors and organizations interested in participating in the festival should call township Secretary Denise Diehl by phone at 610-323-1694, by e-mail at, or in person during regular business hours in the township office, Monday through Friday from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. at 845 S. Hanover St.
