Fill ‘Em Up! One Collegeville Role In Big Fire

MUTUAL COOPERATION, AND A PRIME LOCATION – When more than 50 fire companies from across Montgomery, Chester, Berks and Bucks counties were called in Saturday (Jan. 26, 2019) by dispatchers to help battle a multi-alarm blaze at Salter’s Ski Shop in Lower Providence Township PA, first responders reported that arriving apparatus quickly overwhelmed the area’s ability to supply a sufficient amount of water, according to a Collegeville Fire Company post on Facebook. Commanders on scene supplemented the supply using several pairs of tanker trucks to relay more water to the site. One location that served as a filling station was a hydrant located in a parking lot behind Rascals Fitness on Second Avenue in Collegeville. Crews there worked for hours to keep tankers filled and rolling to the rescue.
