Cancer Can Strike Pets Too; Fight It May 11-12
OAKS PA – Pet Valu, a national specialty retailer of pet supplies that operates stores in Oaks, East Greenville, Royersford, Gilbertsville, and Phoenixville, said it will donate proceeds collected May 11-12 from its $10 self-serve dog-wash stations to the 6th annual “Come Clean for Cancer” fund-raiser benefiting the Animal Cancer Foundation.
About 6 million new cancer diagnoses are made in dogs and cats each year, according to the foundation. The non-profit organization, located in New York state, is dedicated to find cures for cancer in pets and people.
The “Come Clean for Cancer” fund-raiser, begun in 2014, has raised more than $165,000. Last year Pet Valu raised more than $60,000 for the foundation at more than 300 store locations nationwide. The company’s self-serve dog-wash stations include shampoo, towel service, aprons, treats, professional high velocity dryers and an elevated tub with easy access steps. Stations are open during store hours and cost $10.
