Barth Students Name Two As School Peacemakers
RECOGNIZING POTTSTOWN ‘PEACEMAKERS’ – Two students – Yaileen Irizarry and Ezai Jones (at top) – at the Pottstown School District’s Barth Elementary School, 467 W. Walnut St., have been recognized as its 2019 Peacemaker Award winners. They are the latest students chosen annually by their peers for their “respectful, courageous” methods and “willingness to solve problems in a peaceful way,” according to the district. Both received a plaque with their name, and a $100 check. The award, which this year marked its 20th anniversary, was created in partnership with the First Presbyterian Church of Pottstown. Presenting the awards were church Pastor Kerry Pidcock-Lester, at right, and church member and retired Pottstown teacher Sharon Holloway.
