Schuylkill Paddlers’ Arrival Expected Tonight

PADDLING CLOSER TO POTTSTOWN – Participants in the 21st annual Schuylkill River Sojourn, a week-long water journey from Schuylkill Haven PA to Philadelphia, are expected to arrive this afternoon (Tuesday, June 4, 2019) at Morlatton Village in Douglassville for lunch. Later they’ll end the day at Riverfront Park in Pottstown to make camp, eat dinner, and be entertained before launching off again Wednesday morning (June 5), bound for Royersford, Phoenixville and Mont Clare. Organized by the Schuylkill River Greenways National Heritage Area, the sojourn has evolved into a popular paddling event. Over more than two decades, the sojourn has attracted more than 4,000 people from 25 states, and four foreign countries to paddle what the heritage area calls “the revolutionary river.” This year’s sojourn theme is “Our Working River;” it focuses on the river’s role in the Industrial Revolution.
