Mont Clare Road Section Gets Friction Coating
MONT CLARE PA – Lane restrictions are scheduled Wednesday through Friday (June 12-14, 2019) from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. daily on Bridge Street in Mont Clare village, Upper Providence Township, between Walnut and Sowers streets so a Pennsylvania Department of Transportation contractor can apply a high friction surface treatment (above) there, the agency said.
The treatment uses materials, such as bauxite, to create more friction on top of road surfaces and reduce skidding or hydroplaning when highways are wet, PennDOT explains. The work is a part of a $4.7 million project by general contractor J.D. Eckman Inc. of Atglen PA to apply the treatment to various state highways across the Philadelphia region.
Drivers are advised to allow extra time when traveling near the work area. Slowdowns will occur, the agency added. The contractor’s schedule depends on weather conditions.
