Four Men Charged In March Pottstown Shooting

POTTSTOWN PA – Four Pottstown men between the ages of 18 and 26 are being charged by the Montgomery County District Attorney with first-degree murder and related charges in the March 30 (2019) multiple gunshot death of Keith Robinson, age 41, in the borough.

Two of the accused – Kyshan Brinkley, 23, and Jacquan Lee, 26 – are already in custody, DA Kevin R. Steele said Thursday during a media conference. The remaining pair – Elijah Davis, 18, and Derrick Goins, 26 – are still being sought by investigators under arrest warrants.

Pottstown police, represented during Steele’s announcement by borough Police Chief Michael Markovich, found Robinson dead in his car during the late evening. They and the county Detective Bureau launched a joint homicide investigation that determined Robinson was shot through the window of his vehicle, and near it found nine .40 caliber fired cartridge casings. An additional fired cartridge casing was found next to a trash can, which also contained a distinctive black jacket.

During a March 31 autopsy, Dr. Gregory McDonald of the county Coroner’s Office recovered two bullets from Robinson’s body.

The Detective Bureau’s Violent Crime Unit and the police department had been investigating a home-grown gang operating in the Pottstown area called “Bud Gang Bitch,” or “BGB,” at the time of the murder, Steele reported. The gang name, he claimed, is a reference to Jordan “Bud” Scott, a Pottstown resident who was shot and killed in Norristown in July 2017.

Many alleged members of BGB, including the four named defendants, as well as its alleged base of operations at 206 Manatawny St., Pottstown, were discovered during the investigation, according to Steele. It also found members allegedly involved in illegal drug trafficking, illegally possessing firearms, and connected to at least two shootings.

A criminal complaint filing also outlined what Steele claimed were connections between Brinkley, Lee, Davis, and Goins to the firearms, shooting location, and victim. Video surveillance placed Goins and the other three defendants at the scene.

Steele’s office has filed charges recommended in a county Grand Jury presentment of first-degree murder, conspiracy to commit murder, possessing an instrument of crime and other related charges against all four defendants. Brinkley and Lee were arrested and arraigned on July 26, and were jailed without bail in the Montgomery County Correctional Facility at Eagleville PA.

A preliminary hearing for the pair is scheduled Aug. 26 at 9 a.m. in Pottstown before Magisterial District Justice Scott T. Palladino.

Davis and Goins, still at large, are considered dangerous, Steele said. If they are spotted, members of the public should call 911. Anyone with information on Goins and Davis’ whereabouts is asked to call the Pottstown police at 610-970-6570 or county detectives at 610-226-5553.

The case will be prosecuted by Assistant District Attorneys Kelly Lloyd and Lindsey Mills.
