Lane Closures, Travel Disruptions In Limerick

LIMERICK PA – A list of four different lane closures and potential traffic disruptions in Limerick Township, reported by the Pennsylvania Department of Transportation, may affect some drivers beginning today (Sunday, Sept. 29), and depending on the project could continue through late October. Highways on the list are U.S. Route 422, Lewis Road, and Evergreen Road. Scheduled are:

  • Beginning today (Sunday, Sept. 29, 2019), and continuing through Saturday (Oct. 5), on Lewis Road, its right lane between Linfield Road and Linfield-Trappe Road is scheduled to close from 9 a.m. to 11 p.m., for bridge painting;
  • Beginning Monday (Sept. 30) and continuing through late October, left-turn lanes on Evergreen Road will be closed to traffic between Lightcap Road and Rupert Road for bridge construction;
  • On Wednesday and Thursday (Oct. 2-3) overnights 7 p.m. to 12 a.m., the left lane will close on Evergreen Road between Lightcap Road and Rupert Road for bridge construction; and
  • Beginning Friday (Oct. 4) at 10 a.m. and continuing through Oct. 7 (Monday), eastbound 422 will be reduced to a single lane between Airport Road and Township Line Road for bridge construction.

All work is part of a project to improve a five-mile section of the expressway between the Royersford-Trappe and Sanatoga interchanges across Limerick and Lower Pottsgrove townships.

Drivers are advised to allow extra time when traveling through work areas because “significant backups and delays will occur,” PennDOT cautioned. All scheduled activities depend on weather conditions. H&K Group Inc. of Skippack is the general contractor on the entire project, expected to be completed in Summer 2021.
