Over 400 Attend Pennsburg Veterans BreakfastPENNSBURG PA – The 8th annual Veterans Appreciation Breakfast hosted by 24th District state Sen. Bob Mensch, held Nov. 2 (2019; Saturday) at Upper Perkiomen High School, featured Maj. Gen. Anthony J. Carrelli as its special guest and was attended by more than 400 people including area veterans, their guests, exhibitors, and other speakers, Mensch’s office staff reported.

“It is an honor to recognize and thank our veterans each year for their bravery and selfless devotion to our country,” the senator said. “This breakfast was a small token of our appreciation.”

His district includes all or parts of Douglass, Lower Frederick, Lower Salford, New Hanover, Perkiomen, Salford, Skippack, Upper Frederick, Upper Pottsgrove, Upper Salford, and West Pottsgrove townships, and the boroughs of East Greenville, Green Lane, Pennsburg, Pottstown, Schwenksville, and Trappe.

Other speakers during the event were Kate Ames Schartel Novak, who was crowned 2019 Mrs. Pennsylvania International, and Ashlyn Riccione, 2019 Miss Pennsylvania International. A blessing was given by Dr. Jim Arcieri, and the benediction by retired Air Force Col. Tony Cardona. The Upper Perkiomen High School Women’s Choir (at top) performed patriotic songs, and veteran identification cards were made available from the Montgomery County Recorder of Deeds.

Also on hand were providing veterans with information and services. They included the Bucks County Vet Center, General Carl A. Spaatz National USAAF Museum, Jack Budnick’s Military Memorabilia Display, the Korean War Memorial America – Korea Alliance Peace Park, Korean Vietnam War Veterans of Pennsylvania, National Guard Transition Assistance Program, Tails of Valor, Paws of Honor Program, Inc., Valley Forge Military Academy and College, and Veterans Brotherhood.
