Tax Bureau Publicizes Eight Local Property Sales
NORRISTOWN PA – More than 50 properties – including several in Pottstown borough and Lower Pottsgrove, Perkiomen, and Upper Providence townships – have been listed as available for sale Dec. 12 (2019; Thursday) by the Montgomery County Tax Claim Bureau, as a means to collect property taxes levied during 2017 or earlier as well as any other outstanding liens or municipal claims.
Not all those initially listed in a public advertisement purchased Oct. 24 on behalf of the bureau may be up for bid by the time the sale is actually held. The property owners still have a chance, up to the day before the scheduled date, to pay what’s due and stop the proceedings.
Local properties initially offered for sale were listed in
- Pottstown, four total, on North Charlotte Street, Gable Avenue, Laurel Street, and East Harmony Drive;
- Lower Pottsgrove, two, on Porter Road, and in Walnut Ridge Estates;
- Perkiomen, one on Concord Road; and
- Upper Providence, one on Roboda Boulevard.
County Treasurer Jason Salus also is the bureau director. In the past he’s noted that both property owners and prospective bidders must follow a variety of requirements and specific procedures spelled out in the legal notice.
It also states “property is offered for sale by (the bureau) without guarantee or warranty whatever, either as to structure or lack of structure upon the land, the liens, title, or any other matter.” Those interested in buying should get expert advice and know what they’re getting into before putting money down, the county cautions.
