Driver Hits Kauffman Road Bedroom Monday Night

SANATOGA PA – A car being driven Monday night (Nov. 25, 2019) at about 10:45 by a 17-year-old female, headed south on Kauffman Road from the area of North Charlotte Street, lost control and struck the bedroom of a home at 1460 Kauffman Rd., Lower Pottsgrove police reported Tuesday (Nov. 26). The driver sustained what police called a minor injury; the home’s occupant was uninjured, officers stated.

The driver’s “identity (is) being withheld,” although police did not specify a reason. The report did not indicate whether charges or offenses, if any, are pending.

A curve at the north end of Kauffman Road is sharp, the police department acknowledged on its CrimeWatch website, and the driver was said to be unfamiliar “with the roadway.” Her vehicle left the roadway, crossed the home’s front yard, and struck “the front of the house” beneath the window of a bedroom where the occupant lay asleep.

A “gaping hole in the brick structure” (at top) was visible at the scene, police added.

The car was towed from the scene with significant body damage, and the home was secured by a restoration company called in by the township codes and fire marshal, according to the report. Police were assisted on scene by Ringing Hill Fire Company and Goodwill Ambulance.
