None Injured in Two-Vehicle Crash on Route 100

NORTH COVENTRY PA – A two-vehicle crash Monday (Dec. 2, 2019) morning at the intersection of Route 100 and East Hoffecker Road resulted in disabling damage that required one of the pair to be towed from the scene, the North Coventry Police Department announced on its CrimeWatch website. No injuries were reported.

Police and North Coventry fire police responded at 10:25 a.m. to find one vehicle facing south in the northbound left-turn lane of Route 100, and the second facing east on East Hoffecker. Officers later determined both had been traveling south on 100 when the accident occurred.

At the time, they stated, driver Louise W. Wood of Pottstown was in front of the second vehicle, operated by Gary J. Griffiths, also of Pottstown. Wood’s vehicle was traveling on the right (west side) shoulder of the highway, while the Griffiths vehicle was traveling in the right through-lane.

Wood attempted to turn left onto East Hoffecker Road at the intersection, police allege. As she did, Wood “turned left in front of” Griffiths, “failing to make the left turn from the extreme left lane, a posted left-turn-only lane,” according to the report. The Griffiths vehicle then struck that of Wood.

Wood’s vehicle was towed; Griffiths’ “sustained functional passenger’s front-corner damage and was driven from the scene,” the report stated. There was no indication if citations were issued or, if so, to whom.

Fire police controlled traffic at the scene.
