Citations Issued Following One-Vehicle Accident

NORTH COVENTRY PA – A Pottstown man has been cited by North Coventry police following a single-vehicle accident that occurred Tuesday (Dec. 3, 2019) at 11:38 a.m. on westbound U.S. Route 422 at mile-marker 173.2, the police department reported on its CrimeWatch website. The driver of the vehicle, identified by police as Justin W. Drupp, “sustained an unknown injury to his left hand,” officers reported.

Police charged Drupp, age 21, with driving without a license and careless driving, according to Chester County court records.

Officers from the department and Goodwill Ambulance responded to the scene, at which they said Drupp refused treatment or transportation to a hospital for his apparent hand injury. Police said they arrived to find his vehicle “facing west in the (highway’s) center median,” and Drupp “standing on the north shoulder of the highway.”

Their investigation, according to the web report, revealed he was driving west on 422 in its left lane, “traveling at a high rate of speed, when he “lost control” of the vehicle “while negotiating a right curve in the roadway.” The vehicle “struck the center median guide rail,” and was said to have damaged “75 feet of guide rail and guide rail posts.”

The vehicle “sustained disabling front- and rear-end damage and was towed from the scene,” the report added.
