Snowshoe Races Return Jan. 25 to Schwenksville

SCHWENKSVILLE PA – The 15th annual “Snowshoe 5-K,” a Pennsylvania championship snowshoe race is scheduled for its cross-country loop Jan. 25 (2020; Saturday) beginning at 8 a.m. through the terrain of the Spring Mount Ski Area, 757 Spring Mount Rd. The event benefits the Perkiomen Watershed Conservancy.

The 2019 race was a sell-out, with more than 200 competitors.

The cross-country course will be used if natural snow exists; if there’s no snow, a loop will be created right on the slopes. Racers can bring their own snowshoes or rent a pair at the course for just $10, while supplies last. Either way, its sponsors say, the race is “great for everyone!” The after-party, featuring hot beverages, snacks, and awards promises to be entertaining too, they add.

Registration begins at 7 a.m., and a Kids’ Fun Run Race starts at 7:45 am. Registration fees are priced at $30 for early birds, through Jan. 10; $35 for later registrations, and $10 for the Fun Run. Register online, and find more information, here.
