Borough Looking for Time, Talent During 2020
SCHWENKSVILLE PA – To keep making progress in 2020, Schwenksville Borough Council hopes a few of its residents or others will step up and donate something more valuable than money:
Their time, and their talent.
The council is calling for volunteers to fill vacancies on the borough’s Revitalization Task Force, its Park and Recreation Committee, or its Activities Committee.
- The Revitalization Task Force is charged “with updating the revitalization plan, helping to implement the Main Street Plan and design guidelines, and making recommendations for economic and community development planning and other initiatives,” according to the council. Its membership can include business owners and residents of surrounding municipalities;
- The Park and Recreation Board assists the council in maintaining Meadow Park and other natural and recreation areas in the borough, and makes advisory recommendations for borough facilities. Its work occasionally involves “physical labor and active volunteerism,” it said; and
- The Activities Committee plans community events and activities, primarily Schwenksville’s Community Day (photo at top), and its summer concert series. Council has also indicated its interest in planning and scheduling new community events and activities, and said it “welcomes fresh ideas and volunteers willing to see (them) through from concept to implementation.”
Anyone interested in any of the three is asked to submit a volunteer application (available online here), accompanied by a resume and a short statement about themselves and their interests.
