CMS March Concert Features American Composers
TRAPPE PA – “Heart and Spirit of American Composers,” a night of music celebrating esteemed works of America’s renowned composers with performances by Community Music School musicians, is scheduled for March 7 (2020; Saturday) from 7:30-9:30 p.m. at the school, 775 W. Barber, Bernstein, Copeland, Ellington, Floyd, Gershwin, Ives, Joplin, Rodgers, Sondheim, and Sousa are among the celebrated names that come to mind when considering distinct and innovative composers of American music. They drew influence from American folk music, jazz, blues, and pop styles, then took classical music traditions and made them their own, concert promoters said.
From classical and jazz, to big band and Broadway, American composers embrace the heart and spirit of the people, cities and landscapes that inspire them, they added.
Community Music School was founded in to provide music education and performance experiences for people of all ages, abilities and economic circumstances. Its Trappe location holds 20 teaching studios and a 200-seat performance hall. More than 500 students participate weekly in its music programs, its website reported.
