No Price Increase Possible for Pottsgrove Meals
LOWER POTTSGROVE PA – Prices for breakfasts and lunches sold to students in Pottsgrove School District cafeterias would remain unchanged during the 2020-2021 academic year if the district Board of School Directors approves a one-year contract extension with its food services provider, Chartwells. The extension is an item that appears on the agenda for Tuesday’s (May 26, 2020) school board meeting.
The district explains it applied for and received a government waiver permitting the additional year, due to the coronavirus pandemic. Chartwells, which has been praised by the district for its help with the schools’ meal distribution program, submitted an interim year budget with no cost increases for both scheduled meals and a la carte products.
That means last year’s prices would remain, the district said, for:
- Breakfast, $1.70;
- Elementary Lunch, $2.70;
- Middle School Lunch, $3.05; and
- High School Lunch, $3.40.
School directors are anticipated to approve the budget. Administrators noted the district must bid its food management service contract next year as a result.
The board virtual meeting is scheduled to begin at 7:30 p.m. on the Zoom conferencing platform. A web address for the meeting is expected to be available soon, and will be updated here. The meeting’s agenda is available for download, here.
