WEST POTTSGROVE PA – AMC Theaters, which operates 10 multiplex cinemas in southeastern Pennsylvania including the “AMC Classic Pottsgrove 12” at 110 Upland Square Dr., said in a regulatory financial filing Wednesday (June 3, 2020) that “substantial doubt exists” about its ability “to continue as a going concern for a reasonable period of time.”
The company’s money woes were the subject of a Wednesday article in The New York Times. The newspaper reported all AMC theaters have been closed since March as a result of the coronavirus pandemic and were generating no revenue. AMC’s debt currently totals $5.3 billion.
Its theaters may be able to resume operations “this summer or later,” its filing paperwork stated, but added other factors – including another suspension of operations – could force it to seek more financing.
