Pottsgrove Boosters’ Virtual Banquet Honors Seniors
LOWER POTTSGROVE PA – Pottsgrove High School‘s Class of 2020 athletes have been honored by the Pottsgrove Booster Club with the presentation of its annual senior athletic banquet, although the venue, club President Bob Coons Jr. recognizes, “is not the way we planned to celebrate our seniors this year.” It’s gone virtual as a result of the coronavirus pandemic.
No matter, Coons proclaims in the opening of a video of the event released Friday (June 5, 2020) on Vimeo. “We are honored as a booster club to have had the opportunity” as a group, he said, to sing the praises of this year’s seniors in all sports, their teams, coaches and staffs, their parents and family members, and – new this year – the most dedicated among the organization’s volunteers.
The ability to compete, and the ability to cope with disappointments resulting from the disruption of spring sports caused by COVID-19, are “among lifetime events that you can take and use to your advantage through our entire life,” district Superintendent Dr. William Shirk added in addressing the seniors. He congratulated and thanked them for their careers of their participation in all sports.
The video (above, and also found at the Booster Club’s Vimeo channel, here) has proven popular, with more than 280 views in its first 24 hours of availability. It also can be seen on the club’s Facebook page.
