One Injured Monday in Township 2-Car Accident
LOWER POTTSGROVE PA – One of the drivers in a two-car accident (above and at top) that occurred Monday (June 8, 2020) shortly before 3:30 p.m. at the corner of Armand Hammer Boulevard and Medical Drive was injured and taken to nearby Pottstown Hospital for treatment, Lower Pottsgrove Police Department officers said at the scene. Neither the extent of the injury or the victim’s current condition were immediately known.
Details on those involved were unavailable at the scene (below), as a report on the incident had yet to be filed. Disagreement between the drivers over what happened and when at the intersection was still being investigated, police added.
One of the vehicles was said to have been exiting Medical Drive, preparing to turn south onto Armand Hammer Boulevard toward the U.S. 422 interchange ramps a short distance away. The second was traveling north on Armand Hammer toward the hospital. The collision appeared to have taken place in the center of the intersection, which is controlled by a traffic light.
Volunteer firefighters and fire police from the Ringing Hill and Sanatoga companies, township police patrol units, Goodwill Ambulance, and Sanatoga Auto Body all responded to the call. Fire police blocked southbound access to Armand Hammer at East High and northbound access at 422, but allowed traffic to continue to exit north from Medical Drive in a single lane to Queen Street, where it was detoured.
Several northbound vehicles (above) were caught for a period of time between the interchange and Medical Drive. Eventually they were turned around and detoured south toward Industrial Highway.
