Schools’ Custodians Agree to Contract Extension
LOWER POTTSGROVE PA – Custodial and maintenance employees of the Pottsgrove School District, represented by Norristown PA-based Teamsters Union Local 384, will receive a 2-percent raise in base compensation under a one-year extension of its current collective bargaining agreement with the district.
The contract, which would have expired June 30 (2020), will now continue through the same date in 2021, as approved Tuesday (June 10) by the Board of School Directors during its virtual meeting. It was one of several personnel items collectively accepted by the board without comment.
Later during the meeting, though, board President Robert Lindgren singled out the custodial employees for praise.
The excellence of the staff’s work had been observed during January by outside vendors, and discussed in written comments returned to district Assistant Superintendent Dr. Robert Harney. During an on-site tour of district buildings, the vendors reported, they were “most impressed with the overall cleanliness of all the Pottsgrove schools.”
Lindgren said he “greatly appreciated” the positive impression work by the custodial staff made on others. He thanked them for their efforts, as well as their willingness to extend the bargaining agreement.
Six congratulated on retirement; eight receive tenure
In other personnel matters Tuesday, the board:
Congratulated and offered its best wishes to six retiring employees. They are Dr. Lisa Jones, principal at Ringing Rocks; Debra Arnosky, instructional assistant at the Pottsgrove Middle School; Gloria Hicks, secretary at the middle school; Todd Kelly, English teacher at Pottsgrove High; Diane Sellers, student aide at West Pottsgrove Elementary; and Margaret Werley, math teacher at the high school.
Granted tenure to eight individuals. They are Jacquelynn Adornetta, Kara Ciaverelli, Danielle Frey, Nicole Kaercher, Emily Miller, Brandy Nice, Rebecca Puglia, and Allison Stiles.
