County Expands Its COVID-19 Testing to Anyone

NORRISTOWN PA – You want a coronavirus test, even though you show no symptoms of the illness? Now you can get one, Montgomery County officials said Tuesday (June 16, 2020).

The county is opening up coronavirus testing “so that anyone who needs or wants to be tested can be tested, whether or not they have symptoms,” Board of Commissioners’ Chair Dr. Valerie A. Arkoosh declared during a daily virus update meeting for members of the press. The effort, she said, was part of a “focus on early detection and containment of any new outbreaks.”

COVID-19 testing through the county is available, weather permitting, by appointment only, and as supplies allow at three locations:

In Pottstown, with walk-up testing Monday through Friday from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the county Office of Public Health Center, 364 King St. Those who want to be tested can call 610-970-2937 between 8:30 a.m. and 10 a.m. or until all appointment slots are filled. Spanish-speaking operators and sign language interpreters are available;

No treatments are given on-site at any location. Additional testing sites, some of which operate during weekends (Saturdays and Sundays), can be found on a county map, here.

Individuals who have been tested, or who are identified as a direct contact of an individual who has tested positive for COVID-19, and have received a call from the county’s ‘Results Center’ may return the call to 610-278-5923 to find out their results or status. All information discussed on the call is strictly confidential and is used only to trace COVID-19 cases.
