Nine Pottstown Businesses Win $21,950 in Grants

Businesses of all types and sizes (at top) have been hard hit by the pandemic. Nine local firms have won grants to ease some of the financial pain

POTTSTOWN PA – Nearly $22,000 in grant funding has been awarded to nine Pottstown area micro-businesses from a “COVID-19 Relief and Recovery Fund” established by the Pottstown Area Health and Wellness Foundation in collaboration with Pottstown Area Industrial Development Inc. (PAID), they jointly announced Monday (June 29, 2020).

Winners of $2,500 each were Once Upon A Time Consignment Boutique LLC, Blades Edge Unisex Salon, The High Street Music Company, Emilie, Welcome To The Avenue, Deliah & Dean LLC, and Grumpy’s Handcarved Sandwiches LLC. Also, Pioneers Properties LLC received $2,350, and the Samana Holistic Center, $2,100.

The grants are intended to assist the winning businesses as they continue to face economic impacts resulting from the COVID-19 pandemic. They money will be used as specified in grant applications submitted June 5-12, and approved June 17.

“PAID is thrilled to be able to offer this assistance opportunity to the Pottstown business community. We are grateful to Pottstown Area Health and Wellness Foundation for their support,” PAID Executive Director Peggy Lee-Clark said.

The foundation created a pool of $100,000 to set up funding for both the small business and social services sectors. The money presented to the businesses involved represents only an initial round, according to a media release.
