High Demand Saturday for Daily Bread’s Services
THEY WERE BUSIER THAN THIS PHOTO SHOWS – Don’t let this image of relatively tranquil staff members and volunteers at the Daily Bread Community Food Pantry, at 3938B Ridge Pike in Collegeville, fool you. Only moments before, and promptly moments after this picture was taken Saturday morning (July 18, 2020) its workers were rushing to fulfill pick-up orders and needs requested by pantry clients. At times the parking lot outside the pantry was filled by cars with open trunks awaiting the goods that will help feed their families for another week. Pantry services have been in high demand in the weeks following local coronavirus-prompted layoffs. Donations to the pantry are accepted Mondays through Fridays from 9 a.m. to noon, and Thursdays 6-9 p.m. Currently on its most-wanted list are any canned meats, cereal, juice, tomato products, spaghetti sauce, jelly, canned pastas, baby wipes, bars of soap, shampoo, laundry and dish soap, tissues, and any cleaning products. Call 610-489-5540 for information.
