New York Woman Faces Multiple Charges in NorCo

NORTH COVENTRY PA – An Aug. 4 (2020; Tuesday) preliminary hearing has been set for a 22-year-old New York State woman who has been charged with several offenses following an attempt to purchase goods at the Boscov’s department store in Coventry Mall, according to the North Coventry Police Department CrimeWatch website.

Meizhen Song of Oakland Gardens NY, a neighborhood in the borough of Queens, was arrested July 8 by police after she was detained by the store’s loss prevention personnel. Song attempted to buy merchandise valued at about $1,500, officers reported, using an unidentified victim’s out-of-state credit card that had not been approved for use.

During their investigation, police added, Song also attempted to provide them with a false name and identification.

Song was arrested and faced preliminary arraignment on charges of forgery, access device fraud, identity theft, and theft by deception, court records show. Other charges are possible, police added. She was released on bond.
