Pottstown Expects Reopening Decision in Facebook Meeting

POTTSTOWN PA – During a live-streamed meeting Thursday (July 30, 2020) at 7 p.m. on Facebook the Pottstown Board of School Directors expects to vote on the recommendation of Superintendent Stephen Rodriguez, publicly revealed earlier this week, to proceed with an online-only return to education for first semester of the 2020-2021 academic year.

Rodriguez explained his reasons for, and the potential effects of, his recommendation during a Tuesday (July 28) live Facebook broadcast (above).

His proposed “Phased School Reopening Health and Safety Plan” presentation to the school board includes a 30-slide program that details how academic programming, professional development, and co-curricular activities will be handled. It also addresses cleaning and disinfection, and transportation plans; health protocols, with the handling of coronavirus-positive cases; and an overview of possible instructional models for future use.

  • A copy of the slide presentation, which has been posted to the district website and promoted on Facebook and Twitter, is available here.
  • Because the meeting will be broadcast on the district’s Facebook account, no special Internet link is required. Find Pottstown’s Facebook page here.
