422 Lane Closures in Lower Pottsgrove for Pipe Installation
LOWER POTTSGROVE PA – U.S. Route 422 drivers will encounter weekday lane closures in both directions from Monday (Aug. 24, 2020) through Sept. 4 (Friday), between its Armand Hammer Boulevard and Sanatoga interchanges (in red on map at top), for pipe installation operations, the Pennsylvania Department of Transportation announced.
The weekday work schedule on westbound 422 is from 5 a.m. to 2 p.m., and on eastbound 422 from 9 a.m. to 8 p.m. Drivers are advised to allow extra time when traveling through the work areas, because PennDOT said backups and delays will occur. All scheduled activities depend on acceptable weather.
Work on the project will conform with Centers for Disease Control and state Department of Health guidelines, and a project-specific COVID-19 safety plan.
Lower Pottsgrove’s Park Road bridge over 422 will be replaced under two stages of construction while maintaining two-way traffic on a single lane across the bridge, using a temporary traffic signal. The future replacement of the Pleasant View Road bridge over 422 will require a full closure and detour when that construction starts.
Replacement of the two bridges is an advance contract needed before starting another project to reconstruct U.S. 422 between its Sanatoga interchange and Porter Road., PennDOT said.
H&K Group Inc. of Skippack is the general contractor on the $7.1 million project. It is expected to finish in late 2022.
