Helping Hands Prepares for Winter Clothing Drive

LOWER POTTSGROVE PA – Volunteers of the Helping Hands parents’ team in the Pottsgrove School District, after successfully completing a late summer distribution of free school supplies to students, now have their sights set on colder weather. They’ve scheduled a winter coat drive for October, and hope area residents will help them make life a little warmer for students too.

The drive is scheduled for Oct. 24 at noon at a location to be announced, but Helping Hands is accepting advance donations of new and lightly used winter coats, scarves, gloves, hats, and boots for all sizes. Those who have items to donate can contact the team by e-mail at PGHelpingHands@outlook.com, according to Helping Hands representative Alyssa Gephart.

Team members also have created an Amazon.com wish list that includes bulk packages of hats, gloves, and gift cards usable to purchase new items for those who find online contributions more convenient. It also operates a Facebook page, Pottsgrove Helping Hands, where future information about the coat drive and other group activities will be posted, Gephart reported.

Pottsgrove families who are in need of winter clothing items also should contact Helping Hands by e-mail, and provide size and gender information about their students.
