Pottstown Churches, Fraternity Help Register Voters

SIGNING THEM UP – Members of the Anti-Racism Working Group at First Baptist Church in Pottstown, and brothers of Alpha Phi Alpha fraternity, worked together Friday (Sept. 25, 2020; above) at booths outside the Ricketts Center, 658 Beech St., to encourage and help register voters ahead of the Nov. 3 general election. Another registration drive is scheduled for Tuesday (Sept. 29) from 9:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. outside the Cluster of Religious Communities, 57 N Franklin St., staffed by the First Baptist team and volunteers from Zion’s United Church of Christ in Pottstown. Similar efforts also were held Sept. 18 and Saturday (Sept. 26). “The brothers of Alpha Phi Alpha invite everyone in the community to join us in exercising our right to vote,” fraternity member Dorian Smith said. “Your voice is your vote, and we intend to use our voices to make some good trouble.”
