Pottstown Athletes Lend Strength to Voter Drive

CLEARING THE WAY FOR POTENTIAL VOTERS – Pottstown High School football players, who are well-practiced at clearing a path for their team to score touchdowns, instead cleared the way Saturday (Oct. 10, 2020) for Pottstown Borough residents to register to vote. The Pottstown School District said its student athletes, led by Head Football Coach Jeff Delaney, and others (at top and below) provided muscle power and support in setting up a voter registration and resource day downtown in Smith Family Plaza on East High Street. In addition to the event’s voter registration drive, more than 8,000 pounds of food was distributed to families and individuals in need. Visitors also benefited during the day from free legal aid, housing information, flu shots, census reporting, mental health support, and entertainment. The event was sponsored by the NAACP, with assistance from the YWCA Tri-County Area, Montgomery County Public Defenders, Hopeworx, Giordano Garden Groceries, and Philabundance.
