Voting Reminder: Only One Ballot Drop-Off Site in Pottstown

POTTSTOWN PA – The only in-person, drop-off location in Pottstown available to accept 2020 general election mail-in ballots stands outside the University Center operated by Montgomery County Community College at 95 S. Hanover St., Borough Manager Justin Keller reminded the public during Tuesday night’s (Oct. 13, 2020) Borough Council meeting.

Voting Reminder: Only One Ballot Drop-Off Site in Pottstown

Looking somewhat like a large storage container (at top) but outfitted with a door, window, and a reception portal, the secure drop-off site is positioned on the center’s south side. The building itself (at right), which now houses the college workforce development and continuing education programs, years ago served as Pottstown offices for the East Central division of the American Automobile Association.

A security guard is on duty during the site’s operating hours: Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m., Tuesdays and Thursdays from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m., and Saturdays and Sundays from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m., all through Oct. 30, according to the Montgomery County Voter Services Department.

Individual ballots must be dropped off by individual voters, the department said, even if all ballots being dropped off are from within the same household.

Operating hours will expand as the election draws closer. The drop-off site will be open Oct. 31 and Nov. 1 (Saturday and Sunday) from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m.; and Nov. 2-3 (Monday and Election Day Tuesday) from 9 a.m. to 8 p.m.

Keller’s reminder came as borough Fourth Ward Councilor Trenita Lindsay noted that several borough polling places had been changed by the county, and a list that appeared earlier on the borough website had been outdated.
