Expect Thursday Night 422 Lane Closures Near Oaks

OAKS PA – Alternating left- and right-lane closures are planned Thursday night (Oct. 29, 2020) on U.S. Route 422 in both directions between its Oaks and U.S. Route 202 interchanges for construction activities under a the bridge-widening project continuing in the area, the Pennsylvania Department of Transportation announced.

The overnight work schedule is planned for:

  • Thursday from 6 p.m. to 5 a.m. the following morning, with alternating left- and right-lane closures on eastbound 422 for milling; and
  • Thursday from 7 p.m. to 6 a.m. the following morning, with alternating left- and right-lane closures on westbound 422 for pavement marking and sign structure installation.

Drivers are advised to allow extra time when traveling through the work areas. Backups and delays will occur, PennDOT warned. All scheduled activities depend on acceptable weather.

Construction on the $97.4 million began in February 2016. All original contract items are expected to be completed later this fall. An additional item of work, to repair deteriorated concrete pavement and resurface approximately 900 feet of 422 just west of its Route 363 interchange is expected to be completed by year’s end. J.D. Eckman Inc. of Atglen is the general contractor.

Work on this project will comply with Centers for Disease Control and state Department of Health guidance, and a project-specific COVID-19 safety plan.
