422 East Lane Closure Ahead for Paving, Shoulder, Guide Rail Work

LIMERICK PA – East-bound U.S. Route 422 drivers will encounter a lane closure between Park and Township Line roads, as well as at its Limerick and Sanatoga interchanges, from Monday through Saturday (Nov. 9-14 2020), daily between 10 a.m. and 8 p.m. for asphalt paving, guide rail replacement and shoulder work, the Pennsylvania Department of Transportation announced.

Additionally, west-bound 422 travelers can expect shoulder closures between Lewis Road and Evergreen Road, and at the Sanatoga interchange ramps, Monday through Friday (Nov. 9-13) between 6 a.m. and 2 p.m., also for guide rail replacement.

Drivers are advised to allow extra time when traveling through the work areas. Backups and delays can be expected. All scheduled activities depend on acceptable weather. The work will comply with Centers for Disease Control and state Department of Health guidance, and a project-specific COVID-19 safety plan.

During a two-year period PennDOT’s contractor, H&K Group Inc. of Skippack PA, will mill, overlay and rehabilitate existing pavement between the interchanges; perform bridge deck repairs, concrete and joint patching, sealing and drainage improvements; install new guide rail and rumble strips; and repair or replace damaged traffic signs along the corridor. The $19.1 million project is expected to be completed in Summer 2021.
