422 Lane Closures Nights This Week in Valley Forge

KING OF PRUSSIA PA – Alternating left- and right-lane closures are planned this week on U.S. Route 422 in both directions between its Oaks and U.S. Route 202 interchanges for various construction activities, the Pennsylvania Department of Transportation announced.

The work schedule consists of:

  • Alternating left- and right-lane closures are scheduled Monday through Thursday (Nov. 9-12, 2020) from 7 p.m. to 6 a.m. the following morning on westbound 422 for joint sealing, pavement marking, and sign structure installation; and
  • Alternating left- and right-lane closures are scheduled Monday through Thursday from 6 p.m. to 5 a.m. the following morning on eastbound 422 for pavement marking installation.

Drivers are advised to allow extra time when traveling through the work areas. Backups and delays will occur, PennDOT warned. All scheduled activities are depend on acceptable weather.

Work on this project will comply with Centers for Disease Control and state Department of Health guidance, as well as a project-specific COVID-19 safety plan.

The work is part of a project to replace four bridges, and rebuild and widen one mile of 422 between its Route 23 and Route 363 interchanges. Interchanges also will be upgraded by realigning the 422 east off-ramp to Route 23 by building a new fly-over ramp; improving the Route 23 on-ramp to 422 west; replacing the Route 23 bridge over 422; rebuilding 1,500 feet of Route 23 approaching the 422 interchange; improving the 422 west off-ramp to Route 363 and the Route 363 on-ramp to 422 east; and widening the 422 east off-ramp to First Avenue.

Construction began in February 2016, and are expected to be completed later year. J.D. Eckman Inc. of Atglen PA is the general contractor on the $97.4 million project.
