Skin Cancer Screenings Available at Pottstown Practice

POTTSTOWN PA – Free skin cancer screenings are being offered to new patients by Physician Assistant Cassandra Baier with appointments during office hours at the Pottstown office of Pennsylvania Dermatology Partners, 2093 E. High St.

More skin cancers are diagnosed in the United States each year than all other cancers combined, according to the American Cancer Society. Risk factors for skin cancer development include sunlight exposure, blistering burns during childhood, indoor tanning beds, and having more than 50 moles. Anyone can be at risk regardless of age, sex, or skin color.

Melanoma, a form of skin cancer, is often found in skin exposed to damaging sunlight. Preventive measures consist of using sunscreen with a protection factor of 15 or higher, and wearing wide-brimmed hats and sunglasses that block UV radiation. Treatment is less invasive when melanoma is diagnosed in its early stages.
