Pottstown TCAAC Closes Again to Keep Seniors Safe

POTTSTOWN PA – “The rapidly rising number of COVID-19 cases in Montgomery County and the region” has prompted the TriCounty Active Adult Center, 288 Moser Rd., to again close its doors and cancel in-person programming for its members, center Executive Director Brian Parkes reported Friday (Nov. 13, 2020). Most of them are age 55 and older, and some are more vulnerable to coronavirus.

The closure took effect immediately, and likely will continue “until after the new year,” Parkes wrote in an e-mail. “While we enjoyed seeing everyone again, we feel it is too risky for everyone to continue at this time,” he stated. However, a drive-through pick-up lunch program and virtual programs “will continue as scheduled,” he added.

Parkes also reminded members:

  • “As difficult as it is, please consider spending the holidays only with people who live with you;”
  • “Always wear a mask in public, keep your distance from others, and wash your hands regularly;”
  • “If you need food assistance or help shopping, please call us at 610-323-5009, Ext. 105.;” and
  • “To be added to the (center) lunch list, please call 610-323-5009 and press 1.”

“We hope to see everyone in a much happier and healthier 2021,” he wrote hopefully.

The center first shut its doors March 11 in response to the coronavirus outbreak, remained closed for about two months, and was cleared during early June by the county to begin offering grab-and-go meals to members, as well as those age 60 and older.
