422 Work This Week in Lower Pottsgrove, Limerick, Oaks

KING OF PRUSSIA PA – Traffic on U.S. Route 422 faces disruptions during the coming week in Lower Pottsgrove for bridge demolition, in Limerick for road paving and shoulder work, and in the Valley Forge area for various construction activities, according to the Pennsylvania Department of Transportation’s District 6 regional office.

Drivers are advised to allow extra time when traveling through the work areas, described below. Backups and delays will occur, PennDOT warned. All scheduled activities depend on acceptable weather.

Bridge demolition in Lower Pottsgrove

East- and westbound 422 will be closed and detoured overnights between its Armand Hammer Boulevard and Sanatoga interchanges from Monday through Friday (Nov. 16-20) between midnight and 5 a.m. for bridge demolition and excavation. It’s part of a project to replace the structures that carry Park Road and South Pleasant View Road over the expressway in Lower Pottsgrove.

During the closure, eastbound 422 drivers will be detoured to use Armand Hammer and High to access the expressway at Rupert Road. Westbound 422 travelers will exit at its Sanatoga interchange and detoured to use High and Armand Hammer to access the expressway.

Road paving, shoulder work in Limerick, Lower Pottsgrove

Eastbound 422 drivers will encounter a lane closure between Park Road and Township Line Road, as well as at its Limerick and Sanatoga interchanges from Monday through Friday (Nov. 16-20) daily between 10 a.m. and 8 p.m. for asphalt paving, guide rail replacement and shoulder work. It’s part of a project to rehabilitate pavement and repair seven structures along a five-mile section of U.S. 422 between its Royersford-Trappe and Sanatoga interchanges in Limerick and Lower Pottsgrove.

Construction activities in Valley Forge

Alternating left- and right-lane closures are planned Monday through Saturday (Nov. 16-21) on 422 in both directions between the Oaks and U.S. 202 interchanges for various construction activities. They’re part of a project to build new, wider bridges to improve travel and carry 422 drivers over the Schuylkill River, Norfolk Southern Railroad, South Trooper Road and Schuylkill River Trail.

The work schedule consists of:

  • Alternating left- and right-lane closures on eastbound 422 overnights Monday through Thursday Nov. 16-19) from 6 p.m. to 5 a.m. the following morning, for pavement marking and rumble strip installation;
  • Alternating left- and right-lane closures on westbound 422 overnights Monday through Friday (Nov. 16-20) from 7 p.m. to 6 a.m. the following morning for joint sealing and pavement marking and rumble strip installation; and
  • Alternating left- and right-lane closures on westbound 422 Friday and Saturday (Nov. 20-21) daily from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. for joint sealing.
