Philadelphia Man Sought on Attempted Gun Purchase
UPPER PROVIDENCE PA – A 29-year-old Philadelphia man continues to be sought, on a warrant obtained by the Upper Providence Police Department, for what it alleges was his attempt to buy a prohibited firearm as well as providing false information to make the purchase, the department said Wednesday (Dec. 2, 2020) on its CrimeWatch website.
Eddie Maurice Grant faces a felony charge of making a materially false written statement in the purchase, delivery or transfer of a firearm; and two misdemeanor counts of supplying unsworn falsifications to authorities, court records show.
The warrant was issued in October for activity that reportedly occurred in December 2019, the web report noted, but the alleged offenses are approaching the one-year mark and police hope to locate Grant.
The report said Grant “attempted to purchase a firearm” during a Dec. 21, 2019, gun show at the center on Station Avenue. A background check conducted during the purchase revealed Grant has a prior felony conviction that prohibits him from acquiring a weapon. Police claim he also “provided false information on the documentation required to purchase the firearm.”
Anyone with information regarding Grant’s whereabouts is asked to contact the Upper Providence Township Police Department at (610) 933-7899.
