Limerick Emergency Siren Test Scheduled Monday
POTTSTOWN PA – Exelon Generation says it will conduct a semi-annual, full-volume test of emergency warning sirens surrounding the Limerick Generating Station, 3146 Sanatoga Rd., on Monday (Dec. 7, 2020) at 2 p.m. across Montgomery, Chester, and Berks counties within a 10-mile radius around the station. This is one of two tests performed each year.
The Limerick warning siren system consists of many sirens inside the radius area. The sirens are not a signal to evacuate, Exelon said, but a warning to tune to a local emergency alert broadcast television or radio station. County emergency management authorities activate the sirens, which can be used in the event of any emergency, including severe weather.
The generating station is located about 21 miles northwest of Philadelphia.
