Pottstown Lights Its Tree, Names Holiday Planter Winners

POTTSTOWN PA – Mosaic Community Land Trust won not just one but two awards in the second annual Downtown Pottstown holiday planter competition that was part of the borough’s Christmas celebration launch Tuesday (Dec. 8, 2020) in Smith Family Plaza across from borough hall, Pottstown Area Industrial Development Inc. announced.

Determined to be “Best In Show” among holiday-themed curbside planters lining East High Street was the one adopted by Mosaic in front of 219 E. High St. (above). The organization also won the “Most Original” (below left) award for the planter it adopted outside 228 E. High. Winning the contest’s “Most Festive” title was Heritage Coach Company, with its planter located at 305 E. High (below right).

The evening’s entertainment included the annual plaza tree-lighting ceremony (at top, and below). The 16-foot Douglas Fir tree was donated by Ringing Dale Tree Farm, and its lights and ornaments were donated by Godfrey Properties. The tree lighting was broadcast live on Facebook.
