Perkiomen Valley Delays Jan. 4 On-Site Re-Start

COLLEGEVILLE PA – When Perkiomen Valley School District classes resume Jan. 4 (2021), after its annual winter break, they’ll do so in virtual-only sessions “so that we can protect against a potential surge of COVID cases from the holidays,” the district reports.

Administrators said they “saw upticks in the number of positive cases after Halloween and Thanksgiving, and anticipate something similar” once the Christmas and New Year vacation ends. They urged parents to ensure their students have “all that is needed to participate virtually after the holiday break,” which began Wednesday (today, Dec. 23, 2020).

The district must notify the state, using an attestation form regarding any COVID-19 cases at school, of when it’s prepared to resume on-site instruction. If it meets state Department of Education requirements, PV classrooms could reopen for the week of Jan. 11, it added.

Athletic practices that were scheduled to begin Jan. 4 also are postponed to Jan. 11, according to the district.
